What is the Lifebox

Five easy steps to get the most from your Lifebox

The Lifebox is a secure online area where you can store, access and edit the information, instructions and wishes that your family and executor will need when you die or are in the last stages of a terminal illness.

You can also store the details of your life that you want future family members to discover...so you can be remembered forever!

You can try your Lifebox now to see how easy it is to use and store your information.

There's a special 10% discount offer in one of the sections in your Lifebox!

Take advantage of this offer that could save you a lot of money in the months and years ahead.

Register for your Lifebox to find out the details!

Your Lifebox is free for the first 30 days. After the 30 day trial you can buy one of three options:

  • One year for £12
  • Ten years for £100
  • One-off payment of £150

Your close family members will be very relieved and grateful that you have made it easy for them to make the funeral arrangements and organise probate...it's money well spent!

How it works

The Lifebox has been divided into useful sections covering all aspects of your life. You can also create your own sections.

You can scan the things that mean a lot to you such as letters, postcards, cuttings, certificates, old photos and add them to your Lifebox.

You can record a message, a piece of music, a video of yourself and store these in your Lifebox.

Second keyholders

Decide who you want to open your Lifebox when you die or are in the last stages of a terminal illness.

Only allow a limited number of people to open your Lifebox. These people will be your second keyholders.

Obvious people to choose are your executor(s), your solicitor and a trusted close family member.

Ensure they are aware of their responsibility, and they agree to discharge those responsibilities.

The second keyholder(s) are not able to edit, add to or delete the contents of your Lifebox when they open it using the second key.

You are the first key holder and can access your Lifebox when you log in to My Last Song.

How second keyholders can access your Lifebox

When you have registered you can create a certificate which has the access details required to open your Lifebox.

This certificate is the second key. Give the certificate to the person or people you have chosen to be second keyholders.

You create the certificate by clicking on the Lifebox Key button in your LIfebox homepage.

How the time delay works

The second keyholder(s) will normally access your Lifebox because they know you have died or you have given them permission while you are alive.

However, you may not want the second keyholder to access the Lifebox while you are alive. So there is a time delay which gives you time to stop the second keyholder opening your Lifebox.

An email is sent to you immediately the second keyholder accesses your Lifebox. There will then be a time delay during which your Lifebox remains locked.

If you do not reply to the automatic email within 12 hours, we will allow the second keyholders to access these sections:

  • Open first;
  • My details;
  • Funeral wishes.

If you do not reply within 48 hours, we will allow access to the rest of your Lifebox to the second keyholders.

However, if you reply asking for us to deny access to your Lifebox within the time delay period, we will prevent your Lifebox from being opened by the second keyholder(s).

You will need to create a new certificate as the previous second key will be invalid.

How long will my Lifebox be accessible?

My Last Song has backed up all the data in subscribers' Lifeboxes securely to encrypted third-party servers, for which we have already paid.

In the unlikely event that we do not survive as long as you, all your data is safe and will be released to you.

So, if you have paid to have a Lifebox for a year, you and your second keyholder(s) will be able to access the content of your Lifebox for a year, even if we were to close.

If you have paid for ten years, you and your second keyholder(s) will be able to access the content of your Lifebox for ten years.
