My quirky last songs
Quirky in life? Quirky at the end...this list provides some song choices if you, or a loved one, wants to be remembered as a bit different, or wants to make the mourners laugh.
Funeral ceremonies are normally short, depending on the time booked at the crematoriam or cemetery. But there's always the reception/wake for more music that sums up your approach to life...and death.
Create your quirky playlist and put it in your Lifebox.
Always Look On the Bright Side of Life: Monty Python's Flying Circus
Another One Bites the Dust: Queen
Who Wants to Live Forever: Queen
Disco Inferno: The Trammps
Bat Out of Hell: Meatloaf
Ring of Fire: Johnny Cash
My Way: Sid Vicious
On the Road Again: Canned Heat
Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin
Highway to Hell: AC/DC
Good Riddance: Green Day
Born To Run: Bruce Springsteen
Elinor Rigby: The Beatles
I Don't Want to Grow Up Tom Waits/The Ramones
The Ying Tong Song: The Goons
TV/Radio Themes
TV and radio themes say something about our lives, and so might be suitable to be played at our farewell ceremony.
The horse racing fan might like to have the Channel 4 Racing theme played.
The Coronation Street Theme says that someone was a 'Corie' addict, or East Enders, or whichever TV soap 'couldn't be missed.'
Similarly somebody who adored the Archers might like to be remembered with the Archers theme music.
The theme from Top Gear will be suitable for a petrol head, while someone with a great sense of humour might appreciate the playing of the theme songs from Only Fools and Horses or One Foot in the Grave.
Anyway, you get the idea. Put your choices in the appropriate playlist, bearing in mind that while the funeral ceremony will be too short to include more than three or four songs, the reception/wake could be a better place to have these pieces played.
For difficult to source funeral music, such as themes, ensure the funeral director knows of your choices. He/she will then contact Wesley Music, a company that specialises in supplying any piece of music for funerals.
